LCC student competes in State Spelling Bee

OMAHA – Alyza Leonard, an eighth grade student at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Middle School competed at the Midwest Regional Spelling Bee March 9 at Strauss Performing Arts Center at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

OMAHA — Alyza Leonard, an eighth grade student at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Middle School competed at the Midwest Regional Spelling Bee March 9 at Strauss Performing Arts Center at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Students from across Nebraska and Western Iowa competed in this Regional Spelling Bee and the winner advances to represent the region at the Scripps National Spelling Bee near Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day Weekend later this year. Alyza earned the right to compete in the regional spelling bee after winning the Cedar County District Spelling Bee on Monday, Jan. 29. Over 80 students from across the Midwest region competed in the spelling bee.
