HARTINGTON — This year’s Class C2 State Tournament field features plenty of big shooters.
Three athletes in this season’s Elite Eight have hit for more than 400 points in 2023-24.
Amherst’s Tayje Hadwiger leads the way with a whopping 477 points for an average of 21 points per game.
Cedar Catholic’s Nolan Becker is next on the list, connecting for 418 points and a 16.5-per-game average. Bridgeport’s Kolby Lussetto is next, hitting for 405 this season.
Teams aren’t going to be able to key on Amherst’s Hadwiger and think they’ve shut down the scoring for the night. His teammate, Austin Adelung, can also put up some big numbers. He averages 14 points per game this season.
Lincoln Lutheran is the only other team in this year’s field to have two athletes make the Top 10 scoring chart. Jacob Duitsman has conected for 358 points this season, while his teammate, Ryan Hager, hit for 329.
Four teams in this year’s field are averaging more than 57 points per game. Bridgeport leads all team scoring with 61.5 points per game.
Cross County is next with 58.1 points per game. Its highest scoring output came in a game against East Butler when they poured in 89 points.
Summerland can also put some points on the board. The Bobcats are averaging 57.3 per contest. Their biggest outburst of the year came in an 80-61 win over Santee.
Cedar Catholic averages 55.9 points per contest. The Trojans had their biggest scoring outburst of the season in an 82-48 win over South Sioux City.
