Wynot girls make quick work of Wausa in SubDistrict opener

WYNOT – The Wausa Lady Vikings had to travel to Wynot to take on the Lady Blue Devils in sub-district action on Tuesday night. The Lady Blue Devils would use a big 21-3 first quarter to open up a wide lead and pulled away in the second half with a 29-13 run as Wynot advanced with the 61-28 win.

WYNOT — The Wausa Lady Vikings had to travel to Wynot to take on the Lady Blue Devils in sub-district action on Tuesday night. The Lady Blue Devils would use a big 21-3 first quarter to open up a wide lead and pulled away in the second half with a 29-13 run as Wynot advanced with the 61-28 win.

Wynot defense was stout as only 4 players would score for the Lady Vikings while Wynot put 11 players in the scorebook.

Taylor Dawson was the bright spot for Wausa as she took scoring honors for the game with 16 points. Sienna West helped the Lady Vikings offense with her six points.

Wynot got double figure scoring from Kayla Pinkelman with 11 points while Kenna Oligmueller and Allison Wieseler both hit for 10 points.

The Lady Blue Devils full court man to man pressure on defense bothered the Lady Vikings in the first quarter. Wynot was led by Kayla Pinkelman and Kenna Oligmueller with 5 points each and Allison Wieseler drained a three pointer as the Lady Blue Devils raced to a 21-3 lead.

Taylor Dawson had all three of the Lady Vikings points in the quarter.

Wynot got four more points from Allison Wieseler, three points from Eliza Lange and a bucket each from Kenna Oligmueller and Kayla Pinkelman in the second quarter.

Taylor Dawson found the range for the Lady Vikings hitting for 10 big points to try and rally Wausa. Wynot maintained a 32-15 advantage at halftime.

The Lady Blue Devils would crank up the defensive pressure again in the third quarter. Myrah Sudbeck hit a three pointer and Kenna Oligmueller had a basket plus one. Jaylin Giesen, Kinslee Heimes, Kayla Pinkelman and Eliza Lange all connected from the field as the Lady Devils pulled away with a 16-4 run to lead 48-19 with one period left to play.

In the final quarter Sienna West dropped in 6 points and Olivia Barta hit a basket plus one for the Lady Vikings.

Wynot countered with a trey by Allison Wieseler and a driving lay in by Jaylin Giesen. The Lady Blue Devil reserves mopped up and hit 8-10 from the free throw line down the stretch to make the final tally 61-28 in favor of the gals in Blue.
