COLERIDGE — The American Legion Post #114 and its Auxiliary Unit #114 held their monthly meeting Feb. 5 at the Coleridge Community Building. The units jointly recited the Pledge of Allegiance and then they separated and held their monthly meetings.
Auxiliary Chaplin Dolores Meier gave a reading, and prayer followed by a moment of silence in memory of our departed. President Vicky Gullicksen called the meeting to order. Secretary Brenda Lage called the role with six members responding. She also read the minutes of the last meeting and they were approved as read. Treasurer Diane Wemhoff gave the treasurer’s report for the month of February and her report was accepted as read. The motion was made by D. Meier and seconded by R. Polak to pay bills as presented.
Members enjoyed a Christmas noon meal at Rodeo’s Dec. 9.
President V. Gullicksen updated the Auxiliary on the Feb. 17 District meeting in Emerson. The Convention will be held March 9 in Lyons.
Coleridge members will be helping with Bingo at the Veteran’s Home in Norfolk March 8. Any auxiliary member can bring Little Debbies snacks to her at the March Meeting or drop off at her house to take down for Bingo treats.
Girls State applications are due by March 1. The theme for this year’s essay is “What Does Freedom Mean to Me.”
Volunteer hours are due to Vicky by Feb. 16.
The next meeting will be March 4, 2024.
