LAUREL — This is the first season of eSports for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School.
The eSports are competitive video games. However, the games played are team games that require constant communication, skill, and players willing and able to play a certain role or position for the betterment of the team.
The Overwatch Team finished the regular season 4-1 with wins over Thayer Central, Bergan Catholic, Conestoga and Hershey with a close loss to Winnebago.
The team defeated Stanton and then Auburn in the quarterfinals to set up a rematch against Winnebago at state in the semifinals.
The team has practiced at the school roughly eight hours a week since the season started at the end of November along with playing in the Grand Island Northwest tournament and scrimmaging other schools.
The team is looking forward to competing at state at York University on Friday, Feb. 2.
