HARTINGTON — January has been National Blood Donor Month, and several people in Hartington, welcomed in the New Year by donating.
National Blood Donor Month is observed in January to boost blood donations during a time when they are typically attheirlowest. Coldweather, flu season, andholiday activities often lead to a decrease in blood donations, making this an opportune time to raise awareness and inspire action. Let’s make January a month of hope, unity, and compassion by ensuring that patients in need have access to the life-saving blood they require. Together, we can create a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals in our community!
LifeServe Blood Center held a blood drive in Hartington Jan. 25, and had a great turnout, with 28 donors and 32 units of life saving blood collected. The units donated at the blood drive can help save up to 96 lives!
The following donors hit milestones with their most recent donation: Pat Feilmeier, two gallons; Glenn Kathol, five gallons; Melvin Jansen, six gallons; Timothy Lammers, 11 gallons; Ronald Wortmann, 13 gallons; and Robert Hamilton, 17 gallons.
LeRoy Hansen helped to coordinate the blood drive at Trinity Lutheran Church.
The next Hartington Community Blood Drive will bei2:30-6 p.m., Feb. 8, at the Hartington VFW.
