WYNOT —The Wynot Blue Devils finally got back into action after the long Christmas/ weather postponed season when they hosted the Creighton Bulldogs Saturday.

Wynot was able to open up an early lead and maintain it in the second half against the scrappy Bulldogs to improve their season record to 9-3. Creighton’s record fell to 2-10 with the loss.

Wynot was led by Chase Schroeder who recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Dylan Heine continued his sharp shooting from long range hitting a trio of three pointers on his way to 14 points. Carson Wieseler also contributed double figures with his 10 point effort.

Creighton got double figure scoring from Ethan Kuhl who hit 4 times from long range and finished with 14 points. Taylor Nilson helped the Bulldogs offense with his 11 points.

The two teams started out trading buckets. Creighton was led by threepointers from Ethan Kuhl and Charlie Rohrer and a basket plus-one by Taylor Nilson. Wynot countered with baskets from Carson Wieseler, Andrew Haberman and Chase Schroeder. Dylan Heine would hit a pair of late three pointers to give the Blue Devils an early 16-12 advantage.

In the second quarter Wynot would widen their lead. Five points each by Carson Wieseler and Chase Schroeder and a trey by Devin Brummer would help the Blue Devils go on an 18-10 run. Creighton got five points from Taylor Nilson, a bucket by Karter Grogert and some free throws but Wynot had increased their lead to 34-22 at halftime.

Creighton would try and rally in the third quarter thanks to a pair of threepointers from Ethan Kuhl and a basket plus one from Kaleb Brown.

Wynot’s Chase Schroeder went to work on the offensive glass hitting for eight points and Dylan Heine hit his third trey of night as the Bulldogs had only cut into the Blue Devil lead by two points still trailed 43-35 going into the final quarter of play.

In the final period the Bulldogs got five more points from Ethan Kuhl and a bucket by Charlie Rohrer. Charlie Schroeder continued to work hard for the Blue Devils amassing another 5 points and Carson Wieseler hit a basket plus one as Wynot took the 54-43 win.
