WAUSA – On Friday Jan. 5, the Osmond- Randolph Hawks traveled to Wausa for the Post Holiday Tournament.
In the first round, the Hawks got matched up with Niobrara-Verdigre for a rematch from the Holiday Tournament in Randolph.
In the first quarter of play the Cougars were able to build up a 10-point lead at 17-7.
The second quarter was a lot closer but the Cougars were still able to extend their lead going into the halftime break up, 28-15. Early in the third period, the Hawks were able to cut the lead to only 11 points at 30-19.
But the Cougars would go on a strong 30-4 run to finish out the game. After the final buzzer sounded, the scoreboard would favor the Cougars by a mark of 60-23.

OR: 7 - 8 - 4 - 4: 23 NV: 17-11-15-17: 60 In the consolation game on Saturday, Jan. 6, the Hawks would play the host Wausa Vikings. Osmond-Randolph would put together their most complete game of the season so far.
After starting the game on a 7-0 run for the Hawks, the Vikings would score five straight points to end the quarter 7-5 in favor of Osmond-Randolph.
The second quarter saw the scoreboard become more active as the Hawks would score 12 points to the Vikings’ eight, building their first half lead to a 19-13 tally at the intermission.
The third quarter saw some impressive scoring for the Hawks led by Sophie Gansebom’s four 3s in the period including her final three-pointer as time expired to finish the quarter. Gansebom scored 14 of the Hawks’ 20 points to lead the third quarter charge.
The visiting Hawks would take a 39-24 lead going into the final quarter of play. The Vikings would make one final push in the fourth quarter, but some aggressive drives to the hoop and timely free throws by Keli Aschoff, who scored eight of the team’s final nine points, would prove to be too much for the Vikings to overcome.
Osmond-Randolph would pick up their second win of the season by a 48-37 final to claim third place in the tournament.
Aschoff and Gansebom really got the offense rolling this game as they paced the Hawks with 15 and 16 points respectively.
