LAUREL — Laurel-Concord-Coleridge dropped a girls’ basketball game to Cedar Catholic here on Jan. 4 to open action in 2024 then traveled to Winnebago on Jan. 5 to take on the Lady Indians in a Lewis & Clark Conference match up that was all Lady Bears, winning 70--

39 to improve to 8-5 on the season.

In the game with the Lady Indians, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge scored early and often to come away with the 31-point win.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge grabbed a 17-10 lead after the first period and never looked back, outscoring Winnebago 18-13 in the second, 24--

12 in the third and 11-4 in the final eight minutes for the win.

Tali Erwin had a great night, scoring 18 points while Rena Rasmussen added a dozen.

Carlie Kvols hit double figures with 10, Mallory and Kaida Eriksen chipped in eight and seven points respectively.

Rasmussen completed a double-double with

11 rebounds, Mallory Eriksen pulled down seven boards and, along with Erwin, handed out three assists each.

Kaida and Mallory Eriksen each had four steals in the game.

In the loss to Cedar Catholic, the Lady Trojans got up early and the Lady Bears spent the next two quarters trying to get back in the game.

After falling behind 17-9 in the first eight minutes, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge bit into lead by a point in the second frame.

The Lady Bears grabbed another point off the deficit in the third, but Cedar Catholic closed the contest out from there by the 63-49 final score.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will host Walthill on Jan. 12. The Lady Bears are set for a trip to Hartington-Newcastle on Jan. 16.
