LAUREL — The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojan basketball team hit the road for a couple of games and completed a very successful week with a couple of wins as the Lady Trojans turned away Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Jan. 4, 63-49 and doubled Osmond/Randolph 54-27 Jan. 2 in Osmond.

The Lady Trojans have won three in a row and have won the past four-of-five contests since the moratorium back before Christmas.

Against the Lady Bears, Cedar Catholic jumped out to an eightpoint lead at the end of the first quarter, but Laurel-Concord-Coleridge eliminated a point from the deficit in the second eight minutes.

The Lady Bears nibbled another point off the lead in the third frame but a 19-11 fourth period put the Lady Trojans in command and settled the contest at the 63-49 final score.

Addison Walter did the most offensive damage with 16 points in the game, Katelyn Arens was right on her heels with 14 as four Cedar Catholic players ended up in double figures.

Lauren Bernecker added 11 points, Grace Wortmann tossed in 10 and Anisten Wortmann chipped in eight.

Katy Jones pulled down nine rebounds and seven steals as Cedar Catholic scored 19 points off of Lady Bear turnovers.

In the game with the Lady Hawks, the game started with neither team really setting the backboards on fire.

In fact, the first eight minutes ended with the Lady Trojans clinging to an 8-6 lead.

Cedar Catholic heated up a little in the second period, scoring 13 points and the defense held Osmond/Randolph to another six-point frame, to head to the halftime locker room in front, 21-12.

The third quarter put the game out of reach when the Lady Trojans added a dozen points to the advantage and they coasted home from there.

Walter was again the main offensive threat, pouring in 14 points, Arens also hit double figures with a dozen. Bailey Hochstein had seven and Bernecker and Anisten Wortmann each had five.

The Lady Trojans were scheduled to take a 6-7 record to a home date with Wynot on Jan. 9 before traveling to Pierce for a Mid-State Conference match up with the Lady Bluejays on Jan. 12.

Cedar Catholic will be back at the Monsignor Werner Activities Center on Jan. 19 against Wayne and Jan. 20 with Guardian Angels Central Catholic.
