LAUREL — Gibson Roberts had the hot hand in Laurel-Concord-Coleridge’s win over Bloomfield here Dec. 19, pouring in 28 points in LCC’s 55-41 win over the Bees.
The win improved Laurel-Concord-Coleridge to 6-1 on the season as it heads into the holiday moratorium until resuming action on Dec. 28 in the Wayne Holiday Tournament.
The Bears sprinted to a five-point lead at the end of the first quarter and extended the advantage to double-digits by the intermission, heading into the break with a 29-17 lead.
The Bees nibbled into the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge lead in the third, outscoring the Bears 15-12, but they responded with a 14-9 advantage in the final eight minutes to claim their sixth win of the season.
Roberts canned 11-of-20 shots from the field and was good on three of his four free throw attempts to post his 28 points on the night.
Tyler Olson added nine points, Kolby Hansen tossed in eight and Bradyn Urwiler tacked on four.
Olson led the Bears on the glass with eight rebounds, Hansen and Roberts each had four and Urwiler and Kayton Hall pulled down three apiece. Olson also handed out three assists and had four steals defensively.
The Bears are set to take on the Pender Pendragons in the opening round of the Wayne Tournament at 2 p.m. on Dec. 28.
The Pendragons will bring a 6-2 record into the game. The winner of that game will take on the winner of a game between Winnebago and Cedar Catholic on Dec. 29 with the finals set for Dec. 30.
