Roger Becker
WATERVILLE, Minn. — Roger H. Becker, 80, Waterville, Minn., died Dec. 14, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Methodist Campus, Rochester.
Funeral services will be held Dec. 19, at 11 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Waterville. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m., until the time of services at the church.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterville.
Born Oct. 26, 1943, in Fordyce,, Roger was the son of Cyril and Eleanor (Lammers) Becker. He was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School, Hartington. Roger served with the Army National Guard based out of Yankton, S.D. Following his military service, Roger began his long career as a sheet metal worker, working on a variety of construction projects over the years. His work for Tessier Sheet Metal brought him to Waterville to work on the new school building. He moved to Waterville in 1972. Roger married Shirley Fessel Nov. 10, 1973, and they were later divorced.
In retirement, Roger enjoyed helping his son-in-law, Bruce, on the farm. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Waterville, where he served on the parish council, choir, and liturgical committee. He also served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Roger was a longtime member of AA and had mentored many. He was also a past president of the Waterville Sportsman Club, member of the American Legion Post 311, and Sheet Metal Workers Local 10 Union.
Roger is survived by his children, Teresa (Bruce) Marzahn. Waterville, Minn.; Chad (Angela Hennan) Waterville, Minn.; and Trisha (Scott) Gregor, Jordan, Minn.; six grandchildren, Ashlee (Jim) Harriman, Logan (Shawna) Marzahn, Cody Becker, Trey Becker, Tate Gregor and Avery Gregor; and three great-grandchildren, Killian, Taelynn and Stetsyn; his siblings, Maurice (Carol) Becker, Leon (Marlene) Becker, Janice (Lloyd) Sudbeck, Neil (Paula) Becker, Clinton Becker, Jane (Larry) Harris, and Michael (Carla) Becker; and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Eleanor Becker; granddaughter, Mileah Marzahn; infant sister, Lynette; and sister-in-law, Dianne Becker.
