Wynot girls continue to roll

WYNOT – The Lady Blue Devils dominated in three of the four quarters Friday night against the Wausa Lady Vikings as they rolled to the 60-28 win.

WYNOT — The Lady Blue Devils dominated in three of the four quarters Friday night against the Wausa Lady Vikings as they rolled to the 60-28 win.

The full-court pressure by the Lady Devils kept the Lady Viking offense from getting into any kind of a rhythm.

The Blue Devils earned a 32-18 advantage in rebounding as second chance points played a big role in the outcome of the game.

Wynot was led by Kenna Oligmueller with 13 points and eight rebounds. Kinslee Heimes and Kayla Pinkelman each hit for 11 points to contribute to the win.

Wausa was led by Taylor Dawson who shared scoring honors for the game with her 13 points as well. Olivia Barta hit a three-pointer and had four assists for the game.

Kayla Pinkelman erupted for seven first- quarter points to lead Wynot to a quick 18-7 lead. Taylor Dawson had five points in the quarter for the Lady Vikings.

In the second quarter the Lady Viking were held with out a field goal managing only six free throws. Meanwhile Wynot got baskets by Kayla Pinkelman, Kinslee Heimes and Kenna Oligmueller as they broke out to build a 27-13 halftime lead.

In the third quarter the Lady Vikings got some offense going thanks to five points by Taylor Dawson and a trey by Olivia Barta.

The Blue Devils made a late push thanks to 5 more points each by Kenna Oligmueller and Kayla Pinkelman and a long three-pointer from Annika Heimes as they increased their lead to 45- 24 after three quarters.

Wynot’s defense held the Lady Vikes to a single field goal by Elle Brazel and a couple of charity tosses in the fourth frame.

Wynot ran away with six more points by Kinslee Heimes and a pair of baskets in the paint by Kenna Oligmueller with a final three-pointer by Allison Wieseler as Wynot secured the 60-28 win.

The Wynot Lady Blue Devils travelled to Homer to take on the Lady Knights Tuesday and picked up another big win, 61-41.

The Lady Blue Devils used big first and fourth quarter runs to defeat the Lady Knights. The defense also continues to shine as the full-court pressure forced the Knights into 27 turnovers, many that led to easy transition baskets.

Wynot got double-figure scoring from Kenna Oligmueller with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Allison Wieseler was right behind with her 13 points and eight rebounds. Kayla Pinkelman continued her steady play contributing 10 points to the win.

Homer was led by Lilly Harris with 12 points and Annah Harris with 10 points and six boards.

In the opening quarter Wynot got a pair of three pointers by Allison Wieseler, four points from Kenna Oligmueller and a trey by Kinslee Heimes to open up a 17-10 early lead.

Homer was led by Tori Walker with a three pointer, a field goal by Jacelyn Hightree and some free throws.

The second quarter was more of an even keel. Wynot got a trey by Myrah Sudbeck, four points from Kayla Pinkelman and three more points from Kenna Oligmueller. Homer answered with 4 points each from Annah and Lilly Harris but could not gain ground as the Lady Devils held a 29-20 advantage at halftime.

The third quarter was competitive as Homer got four more points from Annah Harris, a bucket by Tori Walker and some free throws. Wynot would keep the pressure on helped by a third trey by Allison Wieseler and a basket plus one each from Kenna Oligmueller and Jaylin Giesen to increase their lead to 41-29 going into the final period.

In the fourth quarter Wynot again turned up the heat lead by 6 more points from their sophomore forward Kenna Oligmueller along with 4 points off the bench by Haley Wieseler and helped with baskets by 4 other players.

Homer tried to hang in there with 5 points from Lilly Harris and a three pointer three pointer from Jacelyn Hightree but the Blue Devils would not be denied as they earned a convincing 61-41 win.
