LAUREL – Final preparations are underway for Laurel’s big holiday celebration.
The Laurel Chamber of Commerce’s annual Night of Lights event will be Thursday, Dec. 7.
Activities will begin at 5 p.m. and run through 8 p.m. that day.
Local businesses will be open late that night to offer holiday specials.
Many of this year’s events have been moved to the new Laurel Community Center. A vendor fair will take place at the Community Center from 5-8 p.m.
Santa Claus will also be at the Community Center to greet area residents and visit with the youngsters.
The Laurel Presbyterian Church will also be putting on a special meal during the evening. Serving will be from 5-8 p.m. at the Community Center.
The night will also feature a special Christmas tree lighting ceremony and plenty of Christmas music to get people into a festive mood for the holidays.
Laurel’s Hometown Market will hold a special open house from 9-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30.
Security Bank will hold an open house from 9 a.m.-noon Thursday, Dec. 7, while Citizens State Bank is planning an open house from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8. Wattiers will also have an open house and special promotions from 4-7 p.m.
