Lorraine Anna Pedersen was born Sept. 6, 1933, to Arthur and Beatrice (Keifer) Fischer.
She grew up and attended school in Hartington. She married Gerald Pedersen Feb. 24, 1952, in Yankton.
After their marriage, Lorraine followed Gerald to Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and then Camp Kilmer, N.J., while he served in the army. They returned to Hartington, where Lorraine took great pride in raising her family.
Lorraine was the kind of woman who could make anyone feel welcomed with warm arms, a comforting smile, and always had a warm cup of coffee or tea ready.
She truly could make anyone who walked into the room feel most at home.
She not only had hands full of love and care for those who surrounded her, but Lorraine also had a hand for tending a flourishing flower garden that was awe-inspiring, a vegetable garden that gathered family and friends together for memories and countless Sunday dinners that welcomed anyone who wanted to join. She had a delicate and meticulous hand for warming those with a quilt that was “made with love.” If there is one lesson to take away from Lorraine, it would be to always have a giving spirit and love with no bounds.
