COLERIDGE — Glenna Joy Lentz, 76, Coleridge, died Nov. 8, 2023, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D.
Visitation and vigil service, with her body present, were Monday, at church. Visitation continued Tuesday, one hour prior to services.
Mass of Christian Burial was Nov. 14 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Coleridge, with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating.
Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, at a later date.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Bell, Allison Bell, Kyle Lentz, Davey Black, Trent Von-DerOhe, Bo Bauer and Dave Black.
Honorary pallbearers were Rodney Lentz, Jeff Lentz, Bob VonDerOhe, Warren Stark and Rodger Derickson.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge.
Glenna Joy was born Sept. 5, 1947, in Wakefield, Mich., to David James and Ida Frances (DeMolin) Paro.
She grew up in Bergland, Mich., and graduated from Bergland High School.
Glenna furthered her education in Kearney, by becoming a radiology technician and a nursing assistant. In 1969, Glenna married Rudy Hoffman and a daughter, Katrina, was born. She then married the love of her life, James Frederick Lentz Aug. 17, 1974, in Kearney. She and James moved to Grand Island in 1979 and lived there until moving to Coleridge in 2012.
Glenna had various jobs prior to Delicious Foods/McCains where she worked for 15 years.
Glenna injured her back and then took a job at the call center for Cabela’s which she loved for close to 25 years. She met many lasting friends from Cabela’s.
Glenna liked to crochet and sew her girls clothes. She enjoyed playing Bingo, reading and watching “Days of Our Lives.” Glenna loved watching and cheering on the Nebraska Husker football team. She took many trips to Michigan and loved being on the family farm near Hartington. When Glenna’s daughters’ friends came over, Glenna was like a second mother to them.
Many wonderful memories were created by Glenna that will last a lifetime.
Glenna is survived by her three daughters, Trina Martinez and Nate Banta, Belmond, Iowa; Dawn (Ryan) Didio, Belmond, Iowa; Andrea Lentz, Grand Island; four grandchildren, Ken Bell, Allison Bell, Lexi Didio, and Gavin Didio; great-granddaughter, Jamie Bell; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Kay Paro, Bergland, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Ida Paro; husband, James “Jim” Lentz, Nov. 14, 2018, at the age of 71; and four siblings, Bill Paro, Peggy Black, David Paro and Chuck Paro.
