WYNOT - Wynot took advantage of some home cooking as it opened play in the D2-3 Sub-District Tournament here Oct. 23 as the No. 1 seed.

The Lady Blue Devils had little trouble with Randolph, discarding the Lady Cardinals 25-11, 25-14 and 25-14 to earn a spot in the sub-district finals Oct. 24 against Wausa.

Kayla Pinkelman was the main threat at the net for the Lady Blue Devils as she rifled home 15 kills in the match.

Allison Wieseler added seven and Kenna Oligmueller and Kinslee Heimes each had four.

Sophia Geisen set up 26 set-assists and just missed a double-double with nine digs.

Myrah Sudbeck had 14 digs. Prior to the sub-district win, the Lady Blue Devils won the Lewis & Clark Tournament held in Laurel where they took on and defeated the Wakefield Lady Trojans.

Wynot rolled over Wakefield in straight sets, 26-16, 25-19 and 25-23.

Wieseler took her turn with the hot hand by slamming 16 winners, Pinkelman was right on her heels with 11.

But it was the Lady Blue Devils defense that stole the show.

Wynot dug out 114 attempted scoring plays to thwart any Wakefield aspirations of a comeback.

In addition, the Lady Blue Devils stuffed 18 shots at the net.

Weiseler had five of the blocks.

The winner of the match with Wausa in the sub-district will play in a District final Oct. 28 to be determined after the sub-district tournaments are completed.
