Gaylord Gubbels
NORFOLK — Funeral service for Gaylord C. “Gail” Gubbels, 75, Norfolk, will be at 1:30 p.m., Oct. 20, at Christ Lutheran Church, Norfolk. Rev. Mike Moreno will officiate the service. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk, with military rites. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 16, V.F.W. Post 1644, and the United States Army Honors Guard. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Oct. 19, at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Norfolk. Gail died Oct. 15, 2023, at his residence in Norfolk, with his family at his side. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Gail was born Dec. 31,1947, in Randolph, to Leonard and Ellen (Lenhoff) Gubbels. He grew up in Randolph where he was baptized and confirmed at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church and attended grade school in Randolph before graduating from St. Frances Catholic High School in 1966. After graduation, Gail served in the United States Army from Sept. 20,1966, to Sept. 19, 1968, having served one year in Vietnam. He married Neta Jochens April 27,1974, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. They had three daughters, Tracy, Kari and Sara. After returning home from the military, Gail worked as a carpenter for Gubbels Construction before working at Harding Glass for 22 years.
Gail enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, wood working, grilling and spending time with his family.
He has been a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the V.F.W Post 1644 and the America Legion Post 16.
He is survived by his wife, Neta Gubbels, Norfolk; daughters, Tracy (Mitch) White, Lincoln; Kari (Robert) Miller, Omaha; and Sara (Mark) Hoffman, Chambers; grandchildren, Addison, Calie, Emma, Zander, Grace and Wes; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Leonard and Ellen; his brother, Larry; and step mother Rita Kessler.
