Wynot earns split in triangular

WYNOT - Three quality teams got together for a triangular here in Wynot back on Oct. 5 with the Lady Blue Devils winning one match and dropping one match.

WYNOT - Three quality teams got together for a triangular here in Wynot back on Oct. 5 with the Lady Blue Devils winning one match and dropping one match.

The Lady Blue Devils went the distance in both matches in the best-of-three-sets format, taking down Ponca in their first match and dropping a hard-fought battle with Cedar Catholic in the second match 2-1.

Against the Lady Trojans, Wynot came out swinging and went away with a 25-17 win over their neighbors to the west.

It looked as if the Lady Blue Devils might make it a short night for Cedar Catholic, but the Lady Trojans took the second set, 26-24.

The final set also went to the Lady Trojans by a 25-20 score.

Kayla Pinkelman provided the fire power for the Wynot attack with 12 kills, Kinslee Heimes added seven and Allison Wieseler knocked down six.

Sophia Geisen tipped up 24 set-assists and Kenna Oligmueller, Myrah Sudbeck and Heimes each had an ace serve.

Wieseler had four blocks at the net while Sudbeck, Pinkelman and Oligmueller each had 15 digs. Heimes added 14 and Sophia Geisen had 13.

In the match with the Lady Indians, it was Heimes who spurred on the offense with 13 winners. Pinkelman tacked on nine and Oligmueller had six.

Oligmueller, Pinkelman and Jaylin Geisen all had a pair of ace serves and Sophia Geisen recorded 29 assists.

Wieseler had five blocks at the net, Oligmueller had four and Pinkelman three.

Sudbeck had 21 digs, Heimes had 19 and Sophia Geisen completed a double-double with 18.

The Lady Blue Devils were headed for a triangular in Plainview on Oct. 10 with the Lady Pirates and Randolph.

They will have one final date before the Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament gets underway Oct. 14-17.

Wynot will take on Wausa in Wynot on Oct. 12.
