STANTON — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge cross country teams are winding down the fall season as they point toward district meets next week.

Both teams ran in a couple of meets last week with full results unavailable.

The Bears and Lady Bears ran in the Stanton Invitational on Sept. 28 and the Crofton Invitational on Sept. 25.

“I thought we ran really well in Crofton,” Laurel-Concord-Coleridge coach Brandi Settje said. “Then at Stanton, we had some very good times.”

In the Stanton meet, Tyler Olson continued to lead the Bears on the course as he brought home an eighth-place medal. Preston Rose placed 14th.

For the Lady Bears, Abbie Brummels led three Laurel-Concord-Coleridge runners with a 13th-place showing.

Faith Galvin was right on Brummels’ heels in 14th and Kate Tasler finished 19th.

In the Crofton meet, Olson again set the pace for the Bears with a seventh-place outing, Rose was 13th and Shane Langford came in 30th.

Brummels sparked the Lady Bears by placing seventh, Tasler was ninth and Addy Hoeppner was 12th.

Both teams will head to the Lewis and Clark Conference Cross Country Meet on Oct. 6 at Rolling Hills Country Club near Bloomfield. The Bears and Lady Bears will run in their district meet on Oct. 12.

The Bears qualified for the state meet as a team last season and the Lady Bears are hungry for a spot in the Class D girls’ championships.

They will run in the D-2 District Cross Country Meet at Twin Creeks Golf Course near Pender.

The Nebraska Cross Country Championships are set for Oct. 20 at Kearney Country Club.
