Wayne won the team title after firing a 365, Scotus Central Catholic of Columbus was second at 372 and O’Neill and West Holt were tied for third at 382.

The Lady Bears didn’t quite make the medal stand, but two of their golfers made the top 20 and all four scoring golfers were in the top 30, while the fifth participant was 31st.

Joslyn Johnson of Wayne won the individual competition after carding a 77. O’Neill’s Kaylin Gaughenbaugh was second with an 81.

Skylar Swanson and Clara Brummels tied for the low round for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge after each shot a 99. Swanson won a scorecard playoff between her teammate and Maci Schommer of Cedar Catholic to claim 18th; Brummels wound up 20th.

Holly Patefield was 26th with a 104, Becka Lipp was 27th at 105 and Harper Bruning was 31st, just two strokes back from Lipp.

The Lady Bears will be looking to repeat last year’s district performance, which saw them get third as a team and qualify for last year’s Class C State Golf Championships at Elks Country Club in Columbus, where they finished in a tie for ninth place with Wayne.

The district meet was set for Oct. 3 at Wayne Country Club, but was moved to Oct. 4 due to the threat of storms.

The top three teams in the district meet along with the top 10 individuals and ties will move on to this year’s state meet at Lake Maloney Golf Club in North Platte, Oct. 9-10.
