Darrell McFadden
RANDOLPH — Funeral service for Darrell D. McFadden, 79, Randolph, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at the United Methodist Church, Randolph. Rev. Judy Carlson will be officiating the service. Interment will take place at the Randolph City Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Sept. 21, at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Randolph. Darrell died Sept. 16, 2023, at the Countryside Nursing Home, Madison. Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Randolph, is in charge of the arrangements. Darrell was born March 14, 1944, in Norfolk, to Lloyd and Neva (Rhode) McFadden. He attended Randolph High School, graduating in 1962. He married Judy Hilkemann in 1964 at the First United Methodist Church, Randolph. After their marriage the couple moved to Hot Springs, S.D., where Darrell worked as a bee keeper and also at an auto body repair shop.After two years of living in S.D., they moved back to Randolph to farm and also where they welcomed their five children. In 1990, they moved off of the farm and into Randolph,where Darrell then worked for the City of Randolph. He later worked at the grain elevator in Randolph until his retirement. During most of that time, Darrell served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the city of Randolph.
He enjoyed wood working and carpentry work,especially making furniture and rocking chairs for the grandkids. He worked on tractors and vehicles and could fix pretty much anything with an engine.
He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed classic cars and pulling intractor pulls. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy;son, Doug McFadden, Madison; daughter, Trish (Roger) Blank, Pierce; son, Pat McFadden, Randolph; son, Darin (Melissa) McFadden, Norfolk; grandkids, Morgan (Kyle) Samuelson, Loomis; Riley (Kayla) McFadden, Norfolk; Tyler McFadden, Camryn McFadden; greatgrandkids, Asher Samuelson and baby McFadden, due in October;along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents,Lloyd and Neva; son, Daniel McFadden; sister, Cathie McFadden; brother, Dean McFadden; granddaughters, Mashayla and Marissa; mother and father-in-law, Erwin and Elsie Hilkemann;brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Mary Ellen Hilkemann; uncle, Fred McFadden; and aunt, Leola “Dick” Teeple.
Casket bearers will be Camryn McFadden, Jason Hilkemann, Morgan Samuelson, Tyler McFadden and Don Rhode, Steve Stueckrath, Marty Nordhues and Riley McFadden.
