Cedar Catholic golfers host home invitational

HARTINGTON – Cedar Catholic girls’ golf coach Sheila Jueden has the pleasure of coaching a very deep and talented team this fall and that depth was on full display as Cedar Catholic hosted its own invitational Sept. 18 at the Hartington Golf Club.

HARTINGTON — Cedar Catholic girls’ golf coach Sheila Jueden has the pleasure of coaching a very deep and talented team this fall and that depth was on full display as Cedar Catholic hosted its own invitational Sept. 18 at the Hartington Golf Club.

In fact, her junior varsity team placed second in the entire 12-team tournament after firing a four-player total of 434 and the Lady Trojan varsity was just two strokes behind at 436, which was the third best team score on the day.

Wayne walked away with the team title with a total of 381. Maci Schommer and Samantha Pick, Cedar Catholic varsity golfers, were ninth and 10th, respectively, after both carding a 105 while teammate Maggie Dendinger was 11th, also with a 105 for the Cedar Catholic JV team.

The three Lady Trojans were placed in positions by a scorecard playoff. Tessa Haahr came in 12th with a 106 for the Cedar Catholic JV. The Lady Blue Devils took the top three spots and four of the top five individually, led by Carli Canham’s 93.

Joslyn Johnson was second with a 95 and Charli Sievers was third by another playoff.

For the Lady Trojan varsity, Mya Dickes shot a 112, Olivia Kleinschmit fired a 114 and Kristine Becker came in with a 117.

Chasing Dendinger and Haahr for the Cedar JV quintet were Camryn Loecker, just one shot out of the medals at 111, and Kate Lammers had a 112 and Lauren Potts shot a 119.

The Lady Trojans will be back on the course Sept. 21 in the Wayne Invitational at the Wayne Country Club with a 9 a.m. tee-off before competing in the Mid-State Conference Tournament in Norfolk on Sept. 28.
