Wynot earns split in home quadrangular

After dropping their first match of the 2023 campaign, the Lady Blue Devils responded with a straight-set sweep over Bloomfield, 25-16 and 25- 15, in the best-of-three-sets match.

Wynot fell to Crofton in the opening round of the quadrangular, 25-23, 22-25 and 23-25.

Against the Queen Bees, the Lady Blue Devils tended to their business and used a balanced attack to get back on the winning track.

Kinslee Heimes led the way with six kills in the two sets, Kayla Pinkelman and Allison Wieseler each added five winners and Kenna Oligmueller added three.

Sophia Geisen had 13 set-assists while Jaylin Geisen and Kayla Pinkelman each had a couple of ace serves.

Defensively, Kinslee Heimes had eight digs and Pinkelman tacked on six for Wynot. The Lady Blue Devils had a block each from Annika Heimes, Oligmueller and Pinkelman.

Wynot won the first set against the Lady War riors, but Crofton responded to take set two before nipping the Lady Blue Devils in the third set by a 25-23 final score to win the match.

It was Wynot's first loss, but it turned right around and sent the Queen Bees back home with back-to-back losses.

Allison Wieseler and Kayla Pinkelman led the attack with nine and eight winners, respectively, while Kinslee Heimes added five and Oligmueller had four.

Kinslee Heimes had a couple of aces from the service line and Sophia Geisen tipped-up 21 setassists.

Oligmueller contributed four blocks at the net and Pinkelman added three.

Three Lady Blue Devils hit double figures in

digs, paced by Sophia Geisen with 17; Kinslee Heimes had a dozen and Pinkelman had 11.

Wynot was set to travel to Winside for a Lewis and Clark Conference match with the Lady Wildcats on Sept. 5 before heading to Creighton for another conference date on Sept. 7.

The Lady Blue Devils will return home for a regular-season match with Bloomfield on Sept.

12 before welcoming in Hartington-Newcastle on Sept. 14.

Wynot defeats Bloomfield 25-16, 25-15.
