HARTINGTON – The Randolph cross country team competed in the Hartington-Newcastle Invitational at the Hartington Community Complex Aug.

Despite the very hot and humid morning to run
5,000 meters, the Cardinals were able to finish in
10th place. Battle Creek won the championship with
24 points. Hartington-Newcastle was second with
50, Homer was third with 54, Osmond was fourth with 74 and Pender was fifth at 91.
The Cardinals were led in the event by Matthew Schultz, who finished the race in 34th place with a time of 24:26. Hunter McGhee finished behind him in 39th place. Other finishers include: Brayden Shearer, 43rd with a time of 25:14.34, and Jake Harder, 63rd with a time of 30:56.16.
The junior high team also competed with a good showing. Jaylen Junck earned eighth place with a time of 12:48.60 and Eli Bermel finished in
15th place with a time of 13:42.18. Other finishers include: Kamden Worlein, 17th; Trey Tjaden, 23rd; and Josh Miller, 24th.
