Juniors finish season 0-2 in tourney

CROFTON- The Randolph Junior Legion went 0-2 in their area tournament, losing the first game 12-0 to Crofton and the second game 17-9 to Creighton-Plainview.

The second game started out poorly as the Juniors were down 7-1 after the second inning. The team showed fight in the top of the third by tying the game 7-7. But while the Juniors found the bats, Creighton did the same as they scored eight runs in the bottom of the third to go up 15-7.

The Juniors couldn’t find the same spark they had in the third for the rest of the game as they scored two runs in the fourth and fifth innings combined.

Gage Jensen had a great game at the plate for the Juniors as he went 2-2 with a double and drove in a run along the way.

This was the Juniors’ last game of the season, and they look to learn from this year and put their new learned skills into Legion next year.

The Juniors team also lost against Creighton-Plainview for the second time, 20-11 in a fifth-inning run rule in pre-tourney action last week.

The Juniors started off slow as they started down 11-0 after two innings.

The Juniors found the bases in the following innings as they rattled off 11 runs in the third, fourth and fifth combined mostly off walks and errors as Creighton- Plainview gave 12 walks and six errors on the game.

But as the bats got hot for Randolph the bats continued to stay hot for Creighton-Plainview.

Creighton-Plainview scored five in the third and four in the fourth inning to ultimately come out on top, 20-11.

The Juniors’ 11 runs came from getting on base and Jalen Junck exemplified this by going 1-1, drawing two walks and also scoring three runs.
