HARTINGTON — David Janes, a former teacher at Cedar Catholic High School, will be ordained a priest June 4. Recently, he finished seminary at Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corner, Wis.

HARTINGTON — A spring storm Friday brought Hartington area a much needed rain and also caused some damage.
The pea to marble-sized hail that fell stripped leaves off of trees and caused property damage to several downtown buildings. Farmers also reported damage to their crops, though they said it was minimal.

HARTINGTON — Work began on an underground irrigation system at the east ball field this week which will cost an estimated $2,500. The project is projected to be finished at the end of the week.

HARTINGTON — Dave Marron, the Cedar Catholic head boys basketball coach, accepted a position at Northwest High School in Grand Island for the 1988-1989 school year.
Marron coached the team for four years and prior to that he was the assistant coach for four years, too.
He is a 1974 graduate of Wayne State College.

HARTINGTON — Doris Christensen, Hartington Public cook, is the recipient of a full tuition Nutrition Education and Training Scholarship, which is given on behalf of the Nebraska Department of Education food service program.

HARTINGTON — The old pro shop and clubhouse at the Hartington Golf Club will be moved from its current spot next to the current clubhouse to a new location southwest of the facility. Two huge cranes were used to lift the structure off its foundation and swing it into place atop its new foundation, out of sight of the clubhouse.

HARTINGTON — Kimberly Kathol placed second in the nation in the 13-16 age group for the annual American Handwriting Competition, an activity sponsored by Consultimate International, Inc., a nonprofit corporation.
