HARTINGTON — After its 11th studio album “Party Heard Around the World” was released in April, country music group Lonestar made plans to bring the party to Hartington.

On Saturday, the band will do just that when it headlines the grandstand concert at the 2010 Cedar County Fair at 8:30 p.m.

“Fairs provide a wide age range, and are about family, friends, festivities, rides and junk food,” lead guitarist Michael Britt said. “For us to be the highlight of something like that is great and definitely something we enjoy.”

Lonestar features the vocal and instrumental talents of Cody Collins (lead singer), Dean Sams (keyboard), Keech Rainwater (drums) and Britt. The four-man group has played in venues across the country, and cannot wait to entertain the county fair crowd in northeast Nebraska.

Koch took control of his medal-round match right from the start, perfectly executing a single leg takedown to take a quick 2-0 lead against Central City’s Tyson  Sutton. Sutton managed an escape before the end of the opening period, but that’s all of the offense either wrestler could muster in the opening frame.

PIERCE — The streak is finally over.

The Cedar Catholic Trojans have not beaten Pierce in a very long time. That streak ended when Cedar handed the Blue Jays a 62-41 setback here to improve to 8-0 on the year.

It looked as though Pierce still had Cedar’s number early in Friday’s MidState Conference match-up, racing out to a  10-4 early lead. Cedar rallied back in the frame, thanks to the hot hand of Kevin Wintz, who put in Cedar’s next seven points to single-handedly cut the deficit to 13-11 with 2:25 left in the first frame.
