Friday is rivalry day for Hartington teams

HARTINGTON — The local high school football season will open Friday with two big rivalries. The Hartington Public Wildcats will hit the road to Wynot, while Cedar Catholic will take on state-rated Crofton in the 2011 season openers. Neither Hartington team has had a lot of success against their area rivals lately.

Area schools show an enrollment decline

HARTINGTON — All but one Cedar County school system showed enrollment declines when students returned to classes last week. Combined enrollment figures for 2011-12 in all of the schools across Cedar County are down 65 students from last year.
