Cedar girls pick up three more wins

O’NEILL – The Cedar girls beat O’Neill 67-54 on Friday, but the game felt a lot closer than that. The game was a battle until late, and Cedar won despite being out rebounded and turning the ball over 20 times.
O’Neill came out hot out of the gates, causing two quick turnovers and quickly taking a lead that they held for most of the first half. In the second quarter, Cedar took it’s first lead of the game 22-21 with five minutes left in the half. The two teams battled back and forth but Cedar went in with a 34-29 lead at halftime.
Abby Hochstein was the offensive catalyst for Cedar. She had 10 points by halftime and finished with 17, a team high.
“I felt really good,” said Hochstein. “The past few games I’ve came out and I haven’t been happy with how I’ve been playing. I was really feeling good after the JV game and I was just ready to play.”
Hochstein was followed by Ashley Hamilton and Anna Reifenrath scoring 12 points, and Jada Cattau scoring 10. The sophomore said the team did a great job spreading the ball around.
“I think we moved the ball very well,” said Hochstein. “We executed what we needed to execute and our defense was good. We played really intense.”
