State Champs — again

Facial reactions are one of the many things that coach Mr. Johnson stressed on the cast as the students prepared for their state performance.

NORFOLK — After a one-year hiatus, the winning tradition is back at Hartington-Newcastle High School.
The school won the Class C2 state One Act play title last week at the Johnny Carson Theatre here.
The state title marks the sixth time in the past seven years that the local school has earned the state One Act title. The only blemish on the school’s win streak was a state runner-up finish at last year’s state competition.
With the play “Band Geeks,” HNS students filled Johnny Carson Theatre with laughter throughout the 30-minute performance.
HNS sophomore Sam Harms played the male lead, Elliot, and he came off the stage really proud of how the performance went.
“Great performance,” said Harms. “We had great energy and that’s the best we’ve done all year.”
