Obituary – Phyllis Marie Neuhalfen

NORFOLK — Phyllis Marie Neuhalfen, 83, Norfolk, formerly of Hartington, died April 25, 2017, at the St. Joseph Rehabilitation and Care Center, Norfolk.
Visitation and a Vigil service were April 27 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, and continued one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial was April 28 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with Rev. Owen Korte and Rev. David Korth officiating. Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington.
Pallbearers were Scott Neuhalfen, Ryan Miller, Jerrod Neuhalfen, Ethan Neuhalfen, Kassidy Neuhalfen and Mike Neuhalfen.
Honorary Pallbearers were her grandchildren.
Phyllis was born Oct. 2, 1933, at Hartington, to Francis and Irene Marie (Asbra) McCoy. She grew up in Hartington and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1951. She married Vernon Neuhalfen Aug. 25, 1952, in Hartington. They made their home in San Diego, Calif., until returning to Hartington in 1956. Phyllis raised her family and worked with her husband in the New York Life Insurance Agency, Hartington. She moved to Norfolk in 2000.
Phyllis was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, until moving to Norfolk where she joined the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America, had a perpetual hour of adoration at Holy Trinity and was a former 4-H leader. Phyllis enjoyed golf and bowling, but most of all she loved being with her family and following all of her grandchildren’s activities.
Phyllis is survived by 12 children, Jan and Mike Miller, Jewel, Iowa; Dr. Elizabeth “Beth” Neuhalfen, Eatonville, Wash.; Bob and Maggie Neuhalfen, Ogallala; Don and Kim Neuhalfen, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Jeff and Cathy Neuhalfen, Lavonia, Mich.; Ken Neuhalfen and special friend, Danita Owens, Laurel; Phil and Kami Neuhalfen, Pierce; Tom and Becky Neuhalfen, Norfolk; Mary and Rod Colfack, Norfolk; Paulette Theisen, Omaha; John and Jolene Neuhalfen, Kieler, Wis.; Pat and Julie Neuhalfen, Glenwood, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Neuhalfen, Arlington; 32 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Tim and Irene McCoy, Norfolk.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon, July 5, 1999, at the age of 69; two sons, Michael and Charles Neuhalfen; and two grandchildren.
