Wind farm could include part of Cedar County

HARTINGTON — The North Fork Wind Project, which is still in the planning stages, would cover a large area in eastern Knox County and extend into Cedar County.
The wind project would cover an area from northwest of Crofton south down to the Wausa area and also extend into Cedar County from Bloomfield.
The North Fork Wind project could include between 70,000-80,000 acres, according to Jordan Burmeister, project manager for the North Fork Wind Project.
Burmeister updated the Knox County board members on the project during the Nov. 30 County Supervisor meeting.
The wind project could include between 120-200 wind turbines, depending on the size of the turbines.
