WEST POINT — The Wynot Blue Devils took on Guardian Angels at West Point Thursday and escaped with a one-point victory.
A combination of cold shooting from the field and stout defense by both teams was the story of this game.
The Blue Devils were cold from the freethrow line, as well, hitting on only 9-19 attempts from the line.
Wynot sophomore guard Nate Wieseler came off the bench and rallied the Blue Devils to the win hitting three fieldgoals in the final period to help steal the victory for the visitors.
The Blue Jays were led by Nolan Plagge with eight points and Mitch Hass and Kobe Slaughter each contributed six points.
Scoring was tough going in the opening quarter. Guardian Angels got a pair of fieldgoals by Nolan Plagge and Wynot answered with a bucket from Jalen Wieseler and a 3-pointer by Dawson Sudbeck to take a 6-5 early lead.
