HARTINGTON — The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats got themselves into a shoot-out in Thursday’s regular season finale here with Plainview.
Despite putting up some incredibly gaudy offensive numbers and smashing a school rushing record, the Wildcats came up one score short, losing 50-44 to the Pirates.
The loss drops the Cats, 5-3, into the lower half of the playoff bracket, which means they will have to travel to Tri County Thursday in their first-round playoff game.
The 2:30 p.m. game will be played at Tri County High School, which is 13 miles northwest of Beatrice.
