HNS runners earn titles

IMG_4288HARTINGTON – Both the Hartington-Newcastle boys and girls cross country teams earned top honors in their home meet here Thursday.

The HNS boys team was led by Brian Santiago, who out-ran Winnebago’s D’Von LaPointe to win the boys’ individual title in 17:13. LaPointe finished the course in 17:29.

Wildcat runner Seth Wiebelhaus also finished in the Top Five, earning fourth-place honors with a time of 18:04. Bode Noecker was the next local runner to finish, crossing the finish line for 12th place.

The HNS girls were even more dominant as all six runners finished in the Top 15. The local team was led by Jada Bernecker and Allie Rosener, who finished the meet only one-hundreth of second apart for second and third-place honors. Sydney Christensen, Anna Burbach and Sara Reifenrath all finished together to claim 12-14th.
