Crofton falls in C2 State title game

LINCOLN — The only two teams that were able to hang a loss on Cedar Catholic this season met Tuesday morning in the Class C2 State title game.

Crofton’s opportunistic defense was able to keep Wilbur out of the endzone in the first half as the Warriors picked off a pair of Tyler Sand passes to end drives deep in their own territory in the first half.

After a 0-0 first-half tie, Wilbur-Clatonia finally put the first points on the board when Tanner Sands pitched the ball to Brice Broz, who then darted past the Crofton D on a 29-yard TD play with 6:41 left in the third quarter.

The Wolverines’ second score of the game came when they found paydirt in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard TD dive by Sand to make it 13-0 with 8:47 left.
