Area students back safe after being stranded in storm

HARTINGTON — One of the biggest storms to hit the East Coast in years will long be remembered by a group of 18 Cedar Catholic High School students.

The students were part of an Omaha Archdiocean trip to Washington, D.C., to take part in the annual March for Life event Jan. 22.

The local students and chaperones were part of a six-bus caravan carrying students from several Catholic high schools in the Diocese.

Monday morning marked the end of a long journey out of the storm, which dumped nearly three feet of snow in Pennsylvania, Maryland and parts of New Jersey stranding motorists and a convoy of buses after a semi jack-knifed on Interstate 76 in southwest Pennsylvania.
