December 22, 2015

The Cedar County Commissioners met in the Boardroom of the Cedar County Courthouse at 8:30 am and the meeting was called to order as advertised, with Jerry Wiese, David McGregor and Terry Pinkelman answering roll call. Also present County Clerk David Dowling. Chairman Pinkelman stated the open meetings laws are posted on the wall for public inspection.

Motion was made by McGregor and seconded by Wiese to approve the agenda. Motion

carried with a 3 to 0 vote. Motion was made by Wiese and seconded by McGregor to approve the minutes from the last meeting. Motion carried with a 3 to 0 vote.

Dave Sudbeck, stopped by the board room and told commissioners that he had nothing to report on noxious weeds or zoning at this time.

Road Supt., Carla Schmidt stated she is working on getting a CPR renewal training for courthouse staff and is working with NIRMA on that. Schmidt also stated she will be attending a training session in Lincoln for changes in road standards and classifications. Schmidt then asked the board if they would consider advertising for a sign technician in charge of sign requirements and inventory county wide being also being responsible for replacement and repair. Schmidt stated the person could also be in charge of doing road traffic counts. Discussion was held on AED units to be placed in the complex with Kevin Garvin and Carla Schmidt. Motion was made by Wiese and seconded by McGregor to purchase 4 units for the courthouse complex. Motion carried with a 3 to 0 vote. Kevin Garvin agreed to inquire and make an order for the four units. Garvin stated he would be attending

Motion was made by McGregor and seconded by Pinkelman to approve a special liquor license for Nissen Wine for January 22 for Hartington Chamber banquet. Motion carried with 3 to 0 vote.

Virgil Bayne and Duane Heithold met to discuss the Veterans Memorial in Coleridge and stated they have received $60,000.00 in contributions and will have a ceremony in Coleridge on Saturday December 26 and asked the Board of Commissioners to attend the event. The board mentioned that money contributed by the county will need to be used for the construction of a memorial only. Motion was made by Wiese and seconded by McGregor to contribute $5,000.00 towards the memorial project.

McGregor reported on recent northeast Nebraska health board meeting in Wayne and stated the administrator will be retiring next year and they will be advertising for a new administrator.

Wiese reported on a wind farm meeting he attended at the Hilltop Café stating the group wants to get 40 to 60 towers up by the end of 2017.

With no further business or agenda items the meeting was declared adjourned.

A regular meeting of the Board of Education, Wynot Public Schools, Dist. 101, was called to order by the President, Neal Hochstein, on January 6, 2016 at 6:40 P.M. The public was advised a copy of the Open Meetings Act was available on the table in the Board Room at Wynot Public Schools and that the meeting was properly posted at the following places; Cedar Security Bank lobby in Wynot, Wynot Public School front entrance, and United State Post Office in Wynot. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call showed the following board members present: Neal Hochstein, Dean Heine, Laurie Schulte, Alison Lange, Kenny Wieseler and Danny Wieseler. Also present were Superintendent Jeffrey Messersmith, Principal Richard Higgins and Business Manager Nancy Sydow.
