RANDOLPH — Mildred Agnes Brown, 96, Randolph, died Aug. 3, 2016, at Colonial Manor, Randolph.
Funeral services were Aug. 6 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Randolph, with Rev. Dr. Derrick Fallon officiating.
Interment was in Randolph Cemetery, Randolph.
Pallbearers were Craig Eberson, Marc Brodersen, Gene Brown, Lyle Brown, Donny Anderson and Wayne Lueders.
Honorary pallbearers were Mildred’s grandchildren, Lisa Warren, Tonya Jelinek, Becky Nelson, Monica Niemand, Traci Estes, Deone Wilson, Barbara Brown and Ryan Terry; and Mildred’s neighbors, Marianne Olberding, Eleanor Graham and Gurney and Mary Ann Lorenz.
Mildred was born March 2, 1920, at Bristow, to Wallace and Ada (Mulhair) Moffett. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church in Lynch. She graduated from Lynch High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in education from Wayne State Teachers College, Wayne. Mildred married Harold G.L. Brown Nov. 23, 1940, at Valentine. The couple made their home in Wakefield until 1952, when Harold and Mildred move to farm near Randolph. They lived there for 24 years and Mildred taught at Randolph elementary school. In 1976, the couple moved to Randolph and Mildred continued teaching at Randolph elementary for the remaining 12 years of her tenure.
Mildred was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Randolph, and Eastern Star as Worthy Matron.
She enjoyed crafting, gardening, tutoring children for four generations. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great and great-great-grandchildren and being married to the love of her life for 61 years.
Survivors include two children, Randy and Shirley Brown, Fairbury, and Brenda and Ross Terry, Katy, Texas; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and one step grandson.
She was preceded in death by husband, Harold Brown; daughter, Shirley Faye Lewis, and husband, Larry; daughter-in-law, Lois (Blohm) Brown; her parents; two brothers; and one sister.
