High utility bills, big projects present cash flow crunch

Hartington — Big projects and high utility bills have resulted in a cash flow crunch for the city.

City Clerk Crystal Lenzen said this is always a bad time for the city with funds being stretched thin.

Currently, the city owes P & E $35,900 for its share of the water quality and flood control project completed at the end of 2015. The city had approved a payment of $23,900 last month to go toward the amount owed, but there are not enough funds available to pay that bill yet.

Council members discussed how the city should pay its bills.
