HARTINGTON – The city’s radio read project is 45 days ahead of schedule and the system could be up and running in September.
Mayor Brad Peitz told City Council members Monday there are only about 35 radio-read water meter units left to install.
He said there are enough units on hand to get 20-25 more on line soon, leaving only 10-15 to install. These final ones may take a bit longer because they are unique meters which may require special parts.
The manufacturer of the devices, Neptune, set up a hand-held testing device that Utilities Superintendent Pat Guy was able to use to test the system.
“We are hoping to get all the meters in, and have the new system up and running in September,” Peitz said.
