Personal property schedules can be filed now

HARTINGTON — It’s time for taxpayers to start filing personal property schedules at the County Assessor’s Office.

Personal property that is taxable includes all depreciable tangible personal property used in a trade or business with a life of more than one year. Personal property must be reported to the county assessor and is based on the depreciated life of an asset.

Tangible personal property includes equipment and machinery for any business or ag producer. Irrigation systems are assessed as personal property and will be eligible for the $10,000 exemption of valuation.
