ST. HELENA — Mildred Mary Becker, 89 St. Helena, died March 14, 2015, at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Mass of Christian Burial was March 17 at the Holy Family (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church, St. Helena, with Rev. Eric Olsen officiating.

Burial was in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, St. Helena.

Visitation and a Vigil Service were March 16 at the church and contnued one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Travis Becker, Todd Becker, Curt Becker, Kylie Becker, Jason Becker, Adam Becker and Sara Mills.

The Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred was born Sept. 22, 1925 at Bow Valley to Anton “Tony” John and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Schulte. She grew up on a farm in the Bow Valley area and graduated from Holy Trinity High School, Hartington, in 1944. She graduated from Omaha Business School, Omaha, and then worked at WNAX, Yankton, S.D., until her marriage to Jerome Marvin Becker Nov. 23, 1949, in Bow Valley. They made their home on a farm in the St. Helena area.

Mildred was a member of the Holy Family (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church and Altar Society and was a former parish council member. She loved to travel to Colorado to visit relatives. She enjoyed golf, gardening, cooking and was a great scrabble player. She was well known for her apple pie and apple crisp.

Mildred is survived by her seven children and their spouses, Tim Becker (Mary), Yankton, S.D.; Tom Becker, Lincoln; Keith Becker (Carol, Emerson; Kevin Becker, Shirley (Joe) Zimmerman and Cindy Becker; all of St. Helena; Louise Vale (Paul), Broomfield, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Travis Becker (Krista), Todd Becker (Stacie), Curt Becker (Tiff), Kylie Becker, Jason Becker, Sara Mills (Kevin), Adam Becker; 11 great-grandchildren, Ashli, Chloe, Tori, Zachary, Kaden, Brady, Tyler, Peyten, Sawyer and Hadley Becker, and Will Mills; two sisters, Mary Ann Hans, Yankton, S.D., and June Lange (Linus), Bow Valley; four brothers, Leo Schulte (Lorraine), Hartington; Roger Schulte, Coleridge; Charles Schulte (Genny), Emerson; Marty Schulte (Phyllis), Yankton, S.D.; and a sister-in-law, Marcie Schulte, St. Helena.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome, Jan. 25, 1999, at the age of 73; three brothers, Hubert “Toby,” Harold and Marvin Schulte; and a sister, Lucille Keller.
