Laurel — Jim Slagle, 55, Laurel, died March 17, 2015, at his residence.
Visitation and a Prayer service were March 19 at United Lutheran Church, Laurel.
Funeral services were March 20 at United Lutheran Church
Laurel, with Rev. Lynn Qualm officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim’s nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hasemann Funeral Home, Laurel.
Jimmy Dale Slagle was born Sept. 12, 1959, at West Point to Roland and Lavonne (Laase) Slagle. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, West Point, where he lived during his childhood. He graduated from West Point High School in 1977. Jim married Cindy Bunn, and then later, married Vicky Lunz.
While living in different towns in northeast Nebraska he did various jobs. Jim’s favorite job was truck driving. He spent the last 15 years in Laurel.
Fishing was his passion and he enjoyed being outdoors.
Jim is survived by Juli Hanika; sons, Corey Slagle, Renton, Wash.; Justin (Sarah) Slagle, Hartington; Steve Keil, Allen; and John (Lisa) Hanika, Laurel; daughter, Brandi Hudson, Laurel; parents, Roland and Lavonne Slagle, Laurel; sister, Cindy (Chuck) Suing, Laurel; brother, Mike (Julie) Slagle, Osmond; sisters-in-law, Sherry Slagle, Fremont, and Marcia (Carmen) Klein, Bellevue; grandchildren, Chayse Roeder, Cheyenne Keil, Wyatt Keil, Matthew Freeman and baby Slagle (Justin and Sarah) coming in July; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents and three brothers, Gale Slagle, Dan Slagle and Gerald Slagle.
