TULSA, Okla. — Helen Elizabeth (Lorensen) Cook, 88, Tulsa, Okla., died Feb. 22, 2015, while at her home, surrounded by her family.
Visitation was Feb. 27 at Butler- Stumpff Funeral Home, Tulsa.
Services were Feb. 28 at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, Tulsa.
Helen was born Dec. 5, 1926, the youngest of three children born to Anna and Andrew Lorensen, Hartington.
Helen attended school in Hartington and graduated in 1945. She married Ernest A Cook Jr., Bloomfield, in 1948, where they farmed until 1951 when they relocated to Stillwater, Okla., to allow Ernest to attend college.
They made their life in Oklahoma with the exception of the two years they lived in Shrewsbury, England.
When they returned from England they settled in Oklahoma and eventually made their life in Tulsa.
Helen devoted her life to being a wife and mother. She lovingly attended to her two children, Linda and Clay.
After Ernie’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling together to many destinations around the country, especially enjoying Las Vegas.
Helen always treasured spending time with her three grandsons and six great-grandchildren; it was always a special time for her to have family near.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Linda Hayes, and spouse, John; and her son, Clay Cook, and spouse, Janet; grandsons, Paul Hayes, and spouse Jammie; Zane Hayes, and spouse, Brandy; and Garrett Cook; and great-grandchildren, Collin Hayes, Camden Hayes, Sydney Hayes, Dax Hayes, Charleigh Hayes and Parker Hayes.
Helen was preceded in death in 2007, by her husband of 59 years.
