NORFOLK — Dolores Jean Nelson, 89, Norfolk, died March 8, 2015, at Heritage of Bel Air Nursing Home, Norfolk.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., March 11, at Westridge United Methodist Church, Norfolk.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m., March 12, at Westridge United Methodist Church, Norfolk, with Rev. Donna Goltry officiating.
Interment will be in Magnet Cemetery, Magnet.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Daws, Tony Daws, Adam Daws, Robert Moritz, Jeremy Nelson and Curt Yoose.
Arrangements are under the direction of Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary, Stanton.
Delores was born July 10, 1925, at Osmond, the daughter of William and Emma (Diinger) Long. She graduated from Magnet High School in 1943, and received her teaching certificate at Wayne State College, Wayne. She taught for a time in Pierce County rural schools near Magnet. Dolores married Warren Nelson June 1, 1947, at her parents’ home in Magnet. The couple operated a farm and dairy operation south of Randolph and later moved east of Magnet until they retired in 1987 and moved to Norfolk.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Magnet, and later at Westridge United Methodist Church, Norfolk. She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a Gold Star Mother.
Surviving her are four daughters and spouses, Connie and Arnie Andree, South Sioux City; Barb and Merle Jalas, Sutherland, Iowa; Kathy and Jeff Moritz, Norfolk; and Jo and Kirk Daws, Battle Creek, Iowa; and three sons and spouses, Dave and Mary Nelson, Omaha; Rog and Dawn Nelson, Scottsbluff; Randy and Mary Nelson, Lincoln; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren; one son; one daughter; three sisters and one brother.
