Carroll — Delmar Eddie, 75, Carroll, died Feb. 15, 2015, at the Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha.
Visitation was Feb. 18 at First United Methodist Church, Carroll.
Funeral services were Feb. 19 at United Methodist Church Carroll, with Rev. Pete Phillips officiating.
A private family burial followed.
Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Blake Eddie, Ashley Hahne, Cameron Eddie, Lindsey Rozeboom, Tyler Wattier, Brant Eddie, Shelby Wattier, Danica Koehler, Mirisa Carroll, Drew Carroll, Alexys Hahne, Avery Hahne and Alyka Gubbels.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hasemann Funeral Home, Wayne.
Delmar James Eddie was born July 24, 1939, at Carroll, to Kenneth and Geneva (Stephens) Eddie. He attended Sun Shine Country School District #75 and graduated from Carroll High School in 1957. Delmar married Nyla Delozier Sept. 4, 1960, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Randolph. The couple farmed near Carroll for many years. In 1983, they sold their dairy herd. For 20 years, Delmar loved his job planting trees for NRD.
His advice to his grandchildren was work hard and save your money so you don’t have to work so hard when you get old.
There was no other farm equipment in the world to him than John Deere.
Delmar enjoyed golfing, camping, being a fast pitch softball pitcher and going for rides. He loved having beverages and visiting with his friends and making new friends.
Delmar is survived by his wife, Nyla; children, Monica Carrol, Wayne, Brian Eddie, Coleridge, and Valerie (Rob) Hoffman, Plainview; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marlene Dahlkoetter, Carroll, and Vonnie (Vince) Meyer, Randolph; and nieces and nephews.
Delmar was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brad; granddaughter, Cara; and great-grandson, Kellyn.
