She was baptized, made her First Holy Communion, and was confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Prior to graduation from high school her parents had gone to California for work. Dona and her sister lived with their Aunt Stella and Uncle Marvin Mitchell until graduation from Laurel High School in 1944. She then joined her parents in California and was employed by Thermador, a company which made transistors which were used during World War II.

Dona married Floyd Miller Nov. 5, 1945, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. After they were married, they lived on a farm north of Laurel. In 1958, Floyd and Dona moved to a farm north of Belden.  In 1962, they moved to a farm they purchased also north of Belden and lived there until retiring in 1989 to Belden. For the last year Dona has lived at the Hillcrest Care Center, Laurel.

Dona was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church Altar Society and taught CCD. She was a lifetime member of Farm Bureau, belonged to various card clubs, traveled and loved visiting family and friends. She enjoyed coffee gatherings at the Laurel Senior Center and Saturday mornings in Belden. Dona was especially known for the years she spent as care giver to the love of her life, Floyd, whom she was married to for more than 59 years, and also for taking care of her mom, Martha.

Dona was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who treasured and especially enjoyed her entire family and most importantly all the large family gatherings.
