HARTINGTON — As Hartington flying ace Bud Becker was laid to rest Thursday at St. Michael’s Cemetery, he was given one final tribute by his fellow pilots. Four planes flew over Hwy. 84 adjacent to the cemetery in single file. As they flew over and tipped their wings, they left a trail of smoke in tribute to the long-time Hartington pilot. As the three front planes broke off in alternate directions, a yellow plane slowly flew over and off into the sunset as a final farewell to the namesake of Hartington’s own air field.
